Introducing NightLase Treatment

NightLase: A non-invasive, patient-friendly laser treatment that enhances the quality of sleep and addresses airway issues by tightening the tissues of the throat. The C3 protocol we use is thermally mediated treatment that uses both Nd:yag and Er:yag laser energy to cause collagen remodeling and its conversion to type 3 collagen in the tissues. The improvement in snoring and obstructive sleep apnea is based on the opening of the airway as a result of this contraction and also the increased resistance to collapse. Another aspect of the observed changes has been based on neuromuscular effects as well as photobiomodulation. It involves an easy-to-perform, patient-friendly non-ablative heating of the oropharyngeal tissue that requires no special preparation, anesthesia, or post-treatment therapy. Simplified explanation: Laser helps tighten and lift up the back of your throat so that there is less snoring and more openness in your airway.

The NightLase Procedure

  1. Consultation: The process begins with a thorough consultation with Dr. Alesia Bergan. We evaluate and discuss your specific airway issues, ensuring NightLase is the right solution for you. You will be asked to do take home sleep study and to measure your snore score by using a free app – SnoreLab.
  2. Treatment Sessions: NightLase treatment typically consists of three to 6 sessions, spaced 3 weeks apart. During each session, a specially calibrated laser is used on the tongue,  soft palate, tonsils (if needed) and throat tissues. The laser energy stimulates collagen production, tightening the tissues and improving airflow.
  3. Non-surgical: NightLase is entirely non-surgical and non-invasive. The procedure is performed in-office, and patients can resume their normal activities immediately after each session. No anesthesia or numbing needed!
  4. Personalized Approach: NightLase treatment is customized for individual patients, addressing specific airway issues effectively. The tailored approach ensures optimal results and patient satisfaction. Most people will receive 3 sessions 30-60 minutes each 21 days apart. More complex cases might require 4-6 visits.

The Benefits of NightLase Treatment

  1. Non-Invasiveness:
    • Unlike traditional surgical interventions, NightLase is non-surgical and non-invasive. Patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the procedure, experiencing minimal discomfort. It is normal to feel warmth during the procedure and possibly mild throat irritation and/or dryness afterwards.
  2. Improved Sleep Quality:
    • NightLase treatment promotes unrestricted airflow, reducing or eliminating snoring and sleep apnea episodes. Enhanced sleep quality contributes to better overall health, increased energy, and improved cognitive function.
  3. Customized Approach:
    • NightLase is tailored to individual patients, ensuring personalized treatment plans that address specific airway issues. This customized approach enhances the effectiveness of the procedure.
  4. Immediate and Long-lasting Results:
    • Patients often notice improvements after the first session. As collagen production continues, the results become more pronounced over time. The recommended protocol requires at least 3 sessions.  Long-lasting relief from airway issues is achievable with NightLase treatment and might require annual or biannual touch-ups.
